Our Process
We follow a simple yet exciting process that engages our clients in the home-building process. Bring all your design ideas and desires to the table, and together we’ll build the home of your dreams. The steps included in our process are the following:
1 — Consultation
If you don’t have a lot to build on yet, this is the step in which we can help determine the best location for your new home. If you already do have a lot, this is where we’ll discuss the types of home architecture you prefer to set the groundwork for design choices.
2 — Meet with the Architect
During this step, you’ll list all the elements and custom features you wish to be included in your new home. We want your home to be built beautifully and with all the functionality to serve you and your family. Our architect will provide the final sketch after approximately 2 weeks.
3 — Your Blueprint
Here’s where our expertise compared to other Minnetonka custom home builders will nail down the nitty-gritty details of your design. The blueprint will give you an exact look at what your home will look like, and will also help generate the cost estimate. It’s at this step that you’ll arrange financing for your home. Once you have approval, we’ll create the purchase agreement contract and collect a portion of the required deposit.
4 — Design and Build Phase
Once you’ve secured your lot and paid your deposit, the construction stage will begin. It’s also the part of the process where you’ll meet with a Norton Homes designer to make all the aesthetic decisions that make a house feel like a home.
5 — Delivery
Typically after nine months after permits are submitted, Norton Homes will deliver your new home. We’ll walk through your new home together to ensure all details meet your expectations. Our team is here to adjust anything that may arise as your home settles in after construction.
